Ratminders...
🐀🐀🐀
We’re nearing the end of the semester. But there is still time for fun! Here are a few RAT-minders before we wrap up with Thanksgiving break and finals…
On an exciting note… check out the cycle 1 FA’s, which are now posted!! Go get inspired, and a huge thank you to the amazing writers and photographers that worked so hard! You can read more about Ray Atlas, Naa Ayorkor Laryea, Federico Stock, Won Jong, and Stephanie Fuentes here (and see the incredible writing and photos of your fellow rats). Shoutout to the incredible rats who brought these stories to life!!!

Reminder that the deadline for submissions of the Ratrock x Misc. magazine collab is November 19th (this Wednesday)!! We’ve partnered with Trinity College Dublin’s Misc. Magazine for a collaboration on the theme Freedom of Expression. Submit a piece of writing and share your thoughts!
Submissions from Ratrock to Misc. Magazine should be 1,200-1,400 words.
Likewise… don’t forget to submit a song for the Radio alHara collab! Pick one song that speaks to Freedom of Expression or the current student-movement zeitgeist using this link. Think of music that feels expressive, political, banned, energizing, or creatively bold.

What have the rats been into lately??
Vivian from Writing has been into Bella Freud’s Fashion Neurosis series on Youtube.
“i know i’m late to the game, but i’ve been loving Bella Freud’s Fashion Neurosis channel on Youtube. She’s Sigmund Freud’s great granddaughter, and i’m obsessed with psychoanalysis and surrealism. She has a really calming voice and it’s just a great listen in the mornings when i’m getting ready. There have been some great guest speakers like Ocean Vuong and Alexa Chung on the channel.”
Sahai from Writing watched Dilwale Dulhania le Jayenge for the first time and loved it.
“I watched the movie “Dilwale Dulhania le Jayenge” for the first time last night with my roommates. It’s a Bollywood film so it was like 3 hours long but I was captivated by every moment. The movie travels through London, Switzerland, Paris, and India and has all of these beautiful landscape scenes and bright outfits. It’s a sweet love story with lots of dramatic displays but also so funny. My favorite part is the bouncy shah ruh khan who is constantly leaping across fields or jumping out of hay stacks to impress Kajol.”
Alice from Outreach has been listening to Pale Jay lately.
“I recently saw Pale Jay live and I’ve been listening to his album “Low end love songs” on repeat. I think the instrumentals are so unique and he was such a refreshing and careless (in a good way) performer. Anyways I love him and I highly recommend his music to get through winter:)”
The Rat of the Week this week is NASA’s Rock Abrasion Tool, or RAT. This space RAT helps NASA to identify different kinds of space rocks. Wow - rats can really do it all!
This week’s email is brought to you by Lua Li from Outreach!!
